Description

Meskhane is an international trio, with members from Scotland, France and Bulgaria, playing oriental percussion, saxophone and kanun. The kanun is a wonderful instrument from Turkey and the arab world. Their repertoire is comprised of Turkish-Ottoman classical music, popular folkloric music from Turkey, oriental and Balkan music. Between the variety of popular rhythms, the rigor of Ottoman classical music, and the mysteries of the makams, they flow through many different moods.
